Systemic Photoprotection in Melanoma and Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer

چکیده

Non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSCs), which include basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous (SCC), and actinic keratosis (AK), are the most common cancer diseases in Caucasian race. If diagnosed late improperly treated, BCC SCC can become locally advanced metastasize. Malignant melanoma (MM) is less frequent but more lethal than NMSC. Given individual social burdens of cancers, performing an adequate prevention needed. Ultraviolet (UV) ray exposure one main risk factors for cancer. Thus, first-choice strategy represented by photoprotection that be both topical systemic. The latter consists oral administration molecules protect human against damaging effects UV rays, acting through antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, or immunomodulator mechanisms. Although several compounds commonly used photoprotection, only a few have demonstrated their effectiveness clinical trials been included international guidelines NMSC (i.e., nicotinamide retinoids). Moreover, none them as able to prevent MM. Clinical preclinical data regarding systemic reported this review, with focus on mechanisms involved photoprotective properties.

Non-melanoma skin cancer diagnosis with a convolutional neural network

Background: The most common types of non-melanoma skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma (BCC), and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). AKIEC -Actinic keratoses (Solar keratoses) and intraepithelial carcinoma (Bowen’s disease)- are common non-invasive precursors of SCC, which may progress to invasive SCC, if left untreated. Due to the importance of early detection in cancer treatment, this study aimed...

Survival and Recurrence in Non-melanoma Skin Cancers of scalp

Abstract Introduction: Non-melanoma scalp skin cancers (NMSCs) including squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) and basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) are common. To manage such cancers, especially SCCs, more attention should be paid to their invasive characteristics. Mortality surveillance of SCCs and BCCs of scalp helps to choose proper approaches. Methods: The current retrospective, descriptive study w...
